If you’ve ever looked through the Zinsser range you’ll see that they have a lot of different Zinssser primers to choose from. All of them have their own uses, and knowing the best one to use in your situation will mean that you not only get the best results, but you also get results that will last longer.

With so many products to choose from It can be hard to know which one is right for you. So here’s a quick guide to help you through.

Some of the products are very self explanatory, so I’m not going to go into those in any great detail. The Drywall Pro is a primer and sealer for new or damaged drywall. The Ceiling Pro is a 5-in-1 system specially designed to fight common problems in ceilings. And the Wallpaper Cover-Up does exactly what it says on the tin: it covers up wallpaper, and completely obliterates the design of the wallpaper behind it.

The other Zinsser primers are somewhat more diverse, so they require a bit more explanation. Below is a table showing which products work best on what substrate/problem. It’s the easiest way to point you in the right direction when it comes to knowing what will do the job.

Zinsser Primers:

Ultimate performance primer & sealer.
Permanently blocks odours.
Unparalleled adhesion to any surface without sanding.

Touch Dry: 15 minutes.
Recoatable: 45 minutes.

Bulls Eye 123:

Low odour, water based formula.
For interior and exterior use.
Seals stains, graffiti and tannin bleed.
Contains a biocide that protects the dried coating against fungal degradation.
Rust inhibitive – great for new metal.
Coverage: 10m² per Litre.
Touch Dry: 30 minutes.
Recoatable: 1 hour.

Bulls Eye 123 Plus:

Low odour, water based.
For interior and exterior use.
High hiding and Stain sealer.
Blocks water stains as well as stopping wood bleed.
Sticks to most surfaces without sanding.
Coverage: 10m² per Litre.
Touch Dry: 30 minutes.
Recoatable: 1 hour.

Coverstain:

For interior and exterior use.
Sticks to all surfaces without sanding.
Seals water, smoke and nicotine stains.
Our best exterior wood sealer.
Blocks cedar and redwood bleed.
Coverage: 9.8m² per Litre.
Touch dry: 35 minutes.
Recoatable: 2 hours.

Allcoat Primer & Finish:

Adheres to all surfaces without sanding.
Covers and seals most paintable surfaces.
Ideal for new plaster and other surfaces with up to 12.5pH.
Sands crisply to powder within 2 hours.
Very low odour.
Non-yellowing.
Coverage: 9m² per Litre.
Touch Dry: 1 hour.
Recoatable: 2 hours.
