This time of year we normally start thinking of having a fresh start and thinking of New Year’s resolutions we want to achieve. I know every January, as cliché as it may sound I always start my health journey. Rather than write a blog this year about how to have a fresh start, I wanted to share with you some of the work our customers have done to keep themselves busy throughout 2020- the year we all stayed at home.

At the beginning of the first lockdown one customer asked us for a recommendation for a wooden base of their hot tub. The customer wanted a pastel green colour to match some ornaments in the garden. We were able to colour match these for the customer and provide a product suitable.

The product used for this decking is Rust-Oleum Combicolor in a satin finish. This product is available to be tinted in a variety of colours- This product is also more commonly known for use on metal and many people don’t realise it can also be used on many other substrates. This product is hard wearing and weather resistance which is why it is also good to be used externally. We love this pastel shade of green- this colour is RAL 6019. (Please note colours on a screen do not accurately represent the official colour.)

This door was painted during the Summer months with Zinsser Allcoat and the customer has since sent us a photo of the door looking Christmassy. I think this bold colour choice suits this beautiful Christmas wreath. Zinsser Allcoat is a popular choice for homeowners painting their front doors and garages because of its excellent colour retention. Allcoat also contains a biocide to protect the dried coating against fungal degradation. The colour of this front door is RAL 3003.

The photos above show the process of painting a fireplace, this customer asked us to make a stone grey colour. The customer primed the fireplace with Zinsser Bin before overcoating with the tinted combicolor. We recommended using Zinsser Bin to prime the surface first as Zinsser Bin has great adhesion to many different substrates. Zinsser Bin is also touch dry at 20 minutes and has great coverage. We absolutely love the look of this stunning fireplace. The gloss finish of the Combicolor really makes this a staple piece in the home.
