Anybody who has run a business, or who just has ragamuffin neighbours, has come into contact with graffiti removal. Most will have had to use it at one time or another to keep their home or business looking sharp. We all know that it looks unprofessional and messy if your walls are covered in marks. The perfect example of how to fix this problem is shown by Handyfellows, based in Wolverhampton.
Graffiti Removal
Handyfellows had previously attempted to remove the graffiti by another Company, but unfortunately this was unsuccessful, and it remained as prominent as ever.
The area on the pillar was chosen
deliberately to include a brickwork which looked as if it had been
sprayed with aluminium paint which is usually more
difficult to remove.
This area was treated with a gel based graffiti removal agent for use on masonry surfaces. They used a product called Graffi Clean 300 GTI. It was then jet washed and treated again with an alkaline cleaner for the removal of shadows from the brickwork: SL1 Shadow Lifter. The application of both agents successfully removed the graffiti as evidenced from the photos below:

Prevention
The final stage of the process is to use a graffiti prevention tool to ensure that if anyone should try and graffiti your property again they will be unsuccessful. It creates a barrier between the paint and the wall, thus protecting it. Once you’ve applied the coating it shouldn’t need to be reapplied. Once the coating is there any graffiti can simply be washed away with water!
Things to Consider
Some paints are harder to remove than others, and it is worth thinking about this while deciding what strength of product you may need. For example, as mentioned above, the metallic paints can often be tougher to remove than an ordinary spray paint. Fluorescence and level of pigment in the paint can also be a factor. If you’re ever in any doubt on what to use then don’t hesitate to call an expert. (01902 429190)
