Over the last few months due to the current situation, we haven’t been able to post to our usual monthly blog. Now things are slowly returning to a form of normality we thought we would share with you some of the creative ways our customers have been keeping busy over the last few months. These ideas are great as they are the perfect to get stuck into now the weather is warming up.
Garden Furniture
Throughout April and May we have helped our customers choose products which we’re suitable for garden furniture. The trend through the UK seemed to show a rise in outdoor chair, tables and decking being painted in Rust-Oleum Chalky Garden Paint.
Rust-Oleum Chalky Garden furniture paint has exceptional coverage in just one coat. This product is made perfectly for garden furniture as this contains a biocide to prevent fungal degradation- meaning it is resistant to mould and algae. This product can also be painted straight onto bare wood, brick, stone or any suitably primed rigid surfaces.
Garage Doors
Many of our customers also contacted us regarding help and advice on painting their garage doors. The product which we seemed to be recommending the most was Zinsser Allcoat – This product is well suited for garage doors and due to the great coverage many people were also following suit by painting their front doors as well. This product is great as can easily be tinted. The UK’s colour choice of the year showed that RAL 7016 – Anthracite Grey seemed to be the most popular. It is always still advised to contact one of our technicians as we would ask more about the substrate you’re painting on to make sure that the best product is specified.
Allcoat also contains a biocide to protect the dried coating against fungal degradation which also keeps the surface looking new. We often suggest this product as this is self-priming and will bond to existing glossy paints without sanding. Please see below a video guide on using Zinsser Allcoat.
If you’re looking for a product which is more versatile we also supply Alkythane which can also be tinted to your chosen colour. Alkythane is known for its excellent corrosion protection. Alkythane is more suited for larger projects as Alkythane has great coverage. A great feature of Alkythane is that it has excellent opacity as well as corrosion protection.
Up-cycling Ideas
Lastly, a paint that we have seen a rise in demand for is the Rust-Oleum Universal all surface paint. This product comes in a 750ml size tin and although this is designed for metal this can also be used on plastic and wood. We’ve seen many people use this product to paint old watering cans to use as flower pots.
As you can see many people in the UK have been getting creative throughout the lockdown, being creative is great for your mental health and has been a great outlet for many individuals wanting to start a new hobby whilst having to adjust to the lockdown way of life. Although things are beginning to return to normal we think these small ideas can keep you occupied over the rest of Summer.
